Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant in the construction industry, based in Chicago, Illinois. This role involves a hybrid work model and requires an understanding of both accounting principles and construction processes. As an Intermediate Accountant, you will be involved in various aspects of project accounting, from processing pay applications to risk management.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the pay application cycle, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions.
• Manage subcontractor payments, mitigating risks associated with waivers, insurance, and other related factors.
• Maintain and update subcontract contracts and schedules of values.
• Review payment processes and implement improvements as necessary.
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date accounting records for all construction processes.
• Utilize accounting software systems to streamline financial operations.
• Assist with auditing procedures as required.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are processed efficiently.
• Engage in accrual accounting tasks as part of the wider finance team's operations.
Requirements • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role within the construction/contractor industry.
• Proficient in various accounting software systems to manage financial data efficiently.
• Demonstrated experience with ADP - Financial Services to streamline payroll and other financial processes.
• Familiarity with CaseWare for the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Experience with Ceridian for human resources, payroll, and workforce management.
• Proficient in using Concur for travel and expense management.
• Ability to perform a wide range of accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and tax planning.
• Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) including invoice processing, payment processing, and vendor management.
• Expertise in managing Accounts Receivable (AR), including billing, cash applications, and customer credit management.
• Understanding of accrual accounting methods and principles.
• Experience in auditing, including planning, execution, and reporting.
