The McIntire School of Commerce is seeking applications for an Operations Associate to provide administrative coordination and logistical support to McIntire’s IT Help Desk. Primary responsibilities include managing a team of Help Desk student workers, purchasing for the IT Operations group, and other logistical duties. They will occasionally provide basic technical support to McIntire users, following the provided guidelines. This position will report to McIntire’s Help Desk Manager and will coordinate with other members of the IT operations group on a regular basis.
III: Responsibilities
Manage a team of 10-20 Help Desk student workers – set their schedules to ensure complete coverage at the McIntire Help Desk, approve time cards, provide training, and work with the Help Desk manager to hire/fire student workers as needed
Manage purchasing requests for the McIntire IT Operations group (purchasing, filing expense reports)
Fill out service request forms with central UVA departments as requested (Information Technology Services, Facilities Management, etc.)
Edit technology and facility content on the MyMcIntire community website
Manage communications to the McIntire community (using digital signage, mass email, or other approved tools) as directed
Perform other admin duties as assigned
Provide occasional coverage at the McIntire Help Desk (via email, phone, or in person)
Create support tickets in response to user requests
Perform basic troubleshooting and tech support, following the provided training materials
IV: Qualifications
High School diploma, with at least one year of relevant experience
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience supervising student workers or full-time employees
Must be comfortable using technology in general, and learning new technology systems
Must have experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be detail-oriented with strong organization skills, and must have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
Strong customer-service orientation and professionalism, and a commitment to building collaborative and highly productive relationships with multiple stakeholders (staff, students, employers, faculty, and alumni)
Preference will be given to candidates with previous UVA experience
