Job Title: Design Associate
Job Description

The Design Associate will provide management and self-performance of design services focusing on space planning, schematic design, design development, construction document review, and project administration. This role ensures the conceptualization, documentation, and execution of innovative, sustainable commercial office spaces that meet project objectives and customer needs while adhering to schedules, budgets, and high-quality standards.

ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with co-workers and industry experts to determine best practices for functional and impactful workplace environments.Ensure integrity of space, suite, floor, building, and overall portfolio level square footage through the application of BOMA standards.Provide portfolio and task level design and project management utilizing departmental and consulting design resources.Resolve workflow, resource, design, and technical issues between all parties.Incorporate innovative design solutions, creative charting, research, and technical development into workflow.Ensure accurate and effective communication, capture, and reporting of project status and performance data to stakeholders.Manage and maintain accurate as-built information, supporting the integrity and access to building and component level information.Ensure compliance with BIM and CAD project standards and procedures.Participate in the development and maintenance of data and file management standards and guidelines.Essential SkillsBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture from a CIDA or NAAB accredited program.3-5 years post-graduate professional design-related experience within the commercial office industry.Proficient working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.PC proficiency including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web-enabled applications.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge and experience with Building Owners Management Association (BOMA) square foot standard application a plus.Ability to work with additional design/graphic programs such as Sketch-Up, Adobe Creative Suite, and PDF editor.Continued education related to sustainable design practices.Continued education related to technological tools, means, and methods of work production and communication.Experience with BIM is a plus.Ability to easily adapt to new and changing technology platforms.Work Environment

This role is based at the headquarters in Columbia, MD, with a schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, requiring 5 days onsite. The Design Associate will have access to internal profit-sharing and stock programs after 12 months of employment. The work environment emphasizes collaboration, sustainability, and adherence to high standards in design and service delivery.
