Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is looking for a Intermediate Protection & Control Technologist to join our Alberta team. The primary role of a Protection & Control Technologist is to perform programming, testing and verification of protection & control devices in the field. The role is responsible for testing, commission or maintain power distribution equipment. This position requires interfacing with clients and construction crew, travelling 70-80% of their time.
What will you do as a Intermediate Protection & Control Technologist at Spark Power?
Be aligned with safety to protect yourself and team members.Understand, Plan, and Utilize utility & industry standard lockout procedures.Read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, AC three-line, logic diagrams and SLDs.Inspect, test, operate and troubleshoot AC & DC control and protection wiring schematic.Perform field testing, verification, and programming of various IEDs from manufacturers such as SEL, GE Multilin, GEC Alstom, Siemens, Square D and ABB.Maintain or Commission Power distribution equipment including Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, HV Switches and Instrument Transformers.Be familiar with industry-specific codes and Standards (AESO, AUEC, IEEE, and NETA).Ability and willingness to travel 70-80% of the time for out of town for commissioning or maintenance projects.Report, record, compute, and process electrical test information in accordance with accepted standard practices.Co-ordinate the day-to-day functions on a job by job basis, such as but not limited to, compliance with all Health and Safety standards and regulations, availability of necessary resources such as human resources, equipment and materials, resolving conflicts, timely and accurate submission of paperwork.Spark Power Employee Benefits and Perks:

Experience - 2 to 5 years of experience in P&CEducation - 2-year Electrical Engineering Technology diploma (I.e. from NAIT or SAIT) or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree.Licenses - Registered or eligible to register with ASET or APEGA.Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.Communication - Talking to others to convey information effectively.Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Leadership - Able to provide technical leadershipWho is Spark Power?
