Intern, Android Applications Software Engineer, Summer 2025

We are currently seeking an intern, Android Applications Software Intern Engineer. This position requires an experienced professional with a basic understanding of Android application development and a passion for working on EVs. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly, and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. 

Role/Responsibilities: 

Work with the developers' team to troubleshoot software defects and write and review Java and Kotlin codes. Work with Android Studio to write Java and Kotlin code and compile and unit test codes. Work with QA team to test binary in car and test bench before merging code into the official release build. Support Senior and Tech Lead developers in their day-to-day tasks which include unit testing, code review, and logs analysis. Support in driving test cars around to capture logs (e.g., with Android Debug Bridge) and reproducing issue. Updating test benches and cars with the latest software for the development team.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Strong interest in automotive  Experience with Java and Kotlin coding Familiar with Android Studio Experience with Android development e.g., applications Exposure with Jetpack Compose

Nice to have: 

Experience with Android application development Experience with infotainment system Computer Science clubs / hackathon.  Developing Android apps in free time or for school projects Completion of certifications sources from tech companies or online courses

Education: 

Field(s) of study: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields Will consider undergrads Junior level or above: Pursuing Bachelor’s or master's degree Graduated eligible for this internship up to 12 months after graduation 

Program Information: 

Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.  Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs. Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work. Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $48 to $66 (Subject to changes). Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.  Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.   Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.  Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.  Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
