The Bioinformatics team, under Hologic Diagnostics Research & Development, serves as a core service supporting R&D product design. We utilize our computational skillset, algorithms, and software to fulfill R&D needs. The Mutation Surveillance Program (MSP) operates within the bioinformatics team in response to inquiries from customers and regulatory agencies for our on-market products. This provides an exciting opportunity to learn about and gain experience in the applications of our products in real-time from a data-focused perspective. **Throughout the 10-12 weeks you'll have the opportunity to participate in the following:** + Assist mutation surveillance database import implementation and content curation. + Support mutation surveillance data analysis. **We're looking for bright, inquisitive problem solvers who strive to make a difference. Key qualifications include the following:** + Able to work full-time over the summer months (May/June - August/Sept) + Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's program and have at least one semester remaining to complete after the internship + Majoring in Bioinformatics, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or Computer Science preferred + Rising Senior or Graduate student + Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.2/4.0 + Strong written and verbal communication skills + Experience or exposure to working with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) + Experience or exposure to bioinformatics analysis and databases; prior database implementation experience would be a plus. + Knowledge of Python and R programming. + **Ability to work onsite at our San Diego, CA campus. Intern housing, relocation, and housing stipends are not provided** The hourly pay range for this role is $22 - $35 per hour.
