The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.
The American Heart Association’s Long Island team seeks an enthusiastic and results-oriented intern to work in support our Long Island team, with heavy focus on our Heart Walk campaign.

**Internship Overview**
+ Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
+ Internship Duration: 5/19/25-8/22/25
+ Location: **Hybrid-includes some time in the office at the Melville, NY office, and attendance at some at local events. Must be available to work onsite on** **Tuesdays.**
+ Salary: $23.00 per hour

+ Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.
**Responsibilities**
+ Work with Development staff members to gain knowledge of our mission and the business processes involved with Heart Walk, fundraising, logistic planning, marketing, and administrative activities.
+ Support of Heart Walk logistics – vendor contracts, event layout, solicit in-kind donations, assist in recruitment of volunteers and cultivate existing relationships, sponsorship activations.
+ Assist in making phone calls and steward current and past Heart Walk team captains.
+ Work closely with American Heart Association staff and volunteers on marketing and administrative activities surrounding the Long Island Heart Walk and other events.
+ Help develop and edit materials such as signage, handouts, company kickoff materials, emails, etc.
+ Manage website and databases to ensure accuracy and update information as needed.
+ Help with mailings to solicit auction items for Long Island Heart & Stroke Ball.
+ Help prepare ROI’s reports for returning sponsors.
**Qualifications**
+ **Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, event planning/hospitality, or non-profit management preferred.**
+ Strong organizational and time management skills.
+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
+ Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
+ Effective oral and presentation communication skills.
+ Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
+ Basic knowledge of Canva.
+ **Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.**
+ **Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.**
+ **Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.**
