The EHS Intern will play an integral role in supporting Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives at our Sherman, TX facility. This internship provides an opportunity to gain real-world experience in EHS compliance, safety programs, emergency management, and risk assessment in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
The intern will assist in ensuring regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and environmental stewardship, helping to drive continuous improvement in our safety culture. If successful, this internship may serve as a steppingstone to a full-time EHS position within the organization.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with the completion and annual verification of Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO) procedures to ensure compliance. Support the hazardous waste management program, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and disposal in accordance with EPA and company policies. Conduct annual fall-protection inspections and document findings. Perform EHS inspections and audits, identifying potential hazards and supporting corrective actions. Assist in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining compliance reports, safety documentation, and training records. Support incident investigations and root cause analysis, helping to develop corrective actions. Assist in training sessions, safety awareness programs, and toolbox talks for construction and general industry situations. Monitor and analyze EHS data to identify trends and develop reports and presentations. Participate in new and ongoing EHS initiatives, including process improvements and risk assessments. Provide general EHS support to employees and departments, ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and corporate EHS standards.Education & Experience
Currently pursuing/completed a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Emergency Management, or a related field. Strong interest in EHS compliance, risk management, and workplace safety. No prior experience required; previous internship or coursework or experience in EHS is a plus.Skills
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data tracking, reporting, and presentations. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and other EHS regulations is a plus.Working Conditions
100% on-site at the Sherman, TX facility. May require standing, walking, and working in both office and production environments. Ability to work outdoors in warm temperatures for inspections and audits.Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Participation in the respirator program may be required.Safety Requirements
