Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Engineering Track – Canada (Western Region) position in Edmonton, AB from May – Aug 2025.
Job SummaryThe Intern, Engineering Track Standards – Canada is responsible for working with the Senior Manager Track Standards and has the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of railway engineering. The role supports the manager in developing and implementing track standards, policies, and procedures that ensure optimal performance and compliance of CN's track infrastructure. Moreover, the position collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to gain a rounded experience of railway engineering.
Major Responsibilities Review and assist in drafts of track standards, policies, and procedures to reflect best practices and regulatory requirements Conduct field inspections and audits of track infrastructure to assess compliance, identify gaps and gain practical experience Prepare reports and presentations on track performance, issues, and recommendations Support in conducting root cause analysis and corrective actions for track failures and incidents Participate in cross-functional meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders to share knowledge and feedback Conduct trend analysis on engineering data Requirements Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Collaborates with others and shares information Applies critical thinking Identifies potential safety and security risks Demonstrates active listening Ability to travel (up to 30%) of the time locally within Canada Ability to work occasionally in the evenings Valid Driver’s Licence Education Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 1 year completed in Quebec or 2 years completed in other Canadian provinces Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering**Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
