Our Marketing Communications Internship offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to Komatsu’s marketing initiatives and grow brand visibility in North America.
As an intern at Komatsu, you’ll be an integral part of the team responsible for event planning and coordination, including major industry events like ConExpo and Demo Days. You’ll also support social media strategies, merchandising efforts, and marketing campaigns—all aimed at enhancing the experiences of our customers and dealers. This role involves collaboration across multiple departments, including marketing communications colleagues, product management, service, solutions, digital, as well as Komatsu distributors across North America.

• Travel to the manufacturing plants (Tennessee and Wisconsin) and other company locations to learn about the business operations.

In addition, 2025 interns will have the opportunity to:
• Work on a 10-week marketing project, conducting market research and competitor analysis.
• Present progress and findings to the team and leadership throughout the internship.
• Assist with daily tasks such as ticket allocation, monitoring event status, follow-ups, registration assistance, and customer and distributor calls.
• Learn about Komatsu’s business, partnerships with distributors, and customer service strategies.
• Gain exposure to Komatsu’s proprietary technology and industry-leading innovations.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners, including IT, software vendors, subsidiaries, and Komatsu Limited in Japan.
• Develop reports, analyze data, and identify opportunities for improvement in marketing initiatives.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, meeting deadlines and delivering results.
• Present the final internship project to Komatsu C-suite executives and leaders at the end of the internship.
Customer and Dealer experiences - Events and Tradeshow planning and execution
Assist the planning and coordination of North America tradeshows and events, including logistics, booth layout, show theme and messaging, content creation, and on-site support. Assist in developing lead generation strategies and engagement plans to enhance attendee experiences. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across marketing communications, the digital office, and sales to align event experiences with organizational goals and objectives. Assist with promotional plans leading up to events and tradeshows, partnering with marketing leads and product teams to ensure key solutions and products are featured and highlighted. Coordinate pre-show, at-show, and post-show attendee lists, registration processes, communications, and training materials to ensure seamless event execution. Support the development of event measurement plans, tracking KPIs, and compiling post-event reports for leadership review. Collaborate with the digital office to optimize lead generation and routing from trade shows, merchandise sales, and other marketing touchpoints.
Merchandise program support
Support the development and launch of the new online merchandise experience. Assist with weekly sales reporting to track merchandise performance and identify trends. Conduct research on industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences to optimize Komatsu’s merchandise selections and sales strategies. A self motivated and detail-oriented intern with a passion for marketing, event management, and a creative eye for creating meaningful experiences and engagements with our brand. The ideal candidate will have:
Currently pursuing a degree in marketing, journalism, business, media and communications, public relations, event management, or a related field. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with CRM or marketing automation tools is a plus.
