Intern, Product Development Systems Engineer 

Job Description/Responsibilities 

KLA is looking for high-energy interns for several exciting projects this coming summer in our Ann Arbor, Michigan location. This position provides a unique opportunity to build experience in the leading edge of semiconductor inspection technology. Specifically, this position provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of the next-generation of KLA’s wafer inspection and metrology tools. The individual in this role will work self-motivated in a team with other systems engineers on a specific aspect of a larger project.  

 

As a member of the product development systems engineering team, the candidate would work on design and analysis of the overall inspection system including performance budgets and error budgets, developing tests to verify the design including procuring test setup hardware and directing the test procedures. They would be working in a team environment and collaborating with engineers and other interns from different disciplines, such as electrical engineering and computer science. Engineering documentation skills as well as basic analytical modeling will be required. Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate will conduct subsystem prototype tests in a laboratory environment. 

 

Qualifications/Education Desired 

The successful candidate should excel in classes in physics, mechanical engineering, and system design. The candidate should have the ability to understand complex integrated systems and how they interact. Strong skills in written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required. They must demonstrate perseverance and ability to work collaboratively with individuals across different functions and geographic locations as needed. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

Currently enrolled in 4-year undergraduate or graduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
