Duties Description * Submitting a cover letter with resume is preferred*BASIC FUNCTION:Provide support to the Public Affairs team by updating press lists, performing basic website maintenance and quality control, creating and managing social media content, sourcing and organizing graphics and digital assets, performing research and media analysis, and assisting press officers with various tasks as needed.WORK PERFORMED:General Responsibilities:• Support Public Affairs team initiatives, including research, social media, and website updates.• Assist with photo sourcing, organization, and maintenance for various projects.• Provide hands-on support to press officers, including drafting, editing, and distributing press materials.• Perform additional tasks assigned by the Public Affairs department.Social Media and Content Creation:• Suggest and draft engaging social media posts based on press releases.• Write concise and compelling blog posts on relevant topics in collaboration with the Editorial Director.• Review and monitor posts from other agencies, flagging content for potential collaboration or reposts.• Research and propose ideas for social media posts related to industry trends, economic development, and other relevant topics.Digital and Research Support:• Maintain and update press lists regularly.• Collaborate with the Research team to verify and refresh website data, including statistics, rankings, and other critical information.• Assist in compiling regional dossiers on Empire State Development (ESD) projects.• Work with divisional digital liaisons to review and enhance webpage content, ensuring accuracy and relevance.Event Assistance:• Provide support for event staffing and logistics as needed.Photo and Visual Content:• Organize and maintain the ESD photo library to support project needs.• Source high-quality images for website updates, focusing on industry, regional, and division-specific requirements in collaboration with the digital team.• Curate and recommend creative photo options on themes such as small businesses, MWBE, venture capital/startups, and key industries like semiconductors.Press Officer Support:• Assist with administrative tasks for press events and communications.• Coordinate responses to press inquiries and provide logistical support as directed by the Public Affairs team.
Minimum Qualifications Education level required: Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program (Journalism, Communications, English, or Marketing preferred)Knowledge Required: Excel, Word, basic social media skills, knowledge of AP Style
