Intern, R&D Systems Engineer

As the engine of our business, our engineering teams continually challenge our ways of working, being pragmatic in their approach to innovating. We are looking for a Systems Engineering Intern team member to contribute to the integration, verification and validation (V&V) of state-of-the-art diagnostic instrumentation.

You naturally apply engineering principles to solve for complex problems. You have a passion for developing and testing systems using an interdisciplinary skillset, a cross between biochemistry & electromechanics, to build and/or optimize equipment.

Throughout the 10-12 weeks you'll have the opportunity to participate in the following:

Exceptional people skills, strong communication, flexible personality, able to work independently and as part of a team Strong skills in writing technical reports and verbally communicating technical content in oral presentations  Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail 

We're looking for bright, inquisitive problem solvers who strive to make a difference. Key qualifications include the following:

Able to work full-time over the summer months (May/June - August/Sept) Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's degree program and have at least one semester remaining to complete after the internship Majoring in Bioengineering, related engineering, or life sciences preferred Rising Junior, Rising Senior or Grad student Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.2/4.0 Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience or exposure to working with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to work onsite at our San Diego, CA campus. Intern housing, relocation, and housing stipends are not provided

The hourly pay range for this role is $22 - $35 per hour. Compensation is determined by class standing and operational function.
