POSITION PROFILE

The Transportation and Logistics intern will participate in all facets of the transportation process with in North American footprint. They will take part in the various business areas, including but not limited to: planning, fleet  and parcel management, freight payment, as well as conducting data analysis. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Planning: 

Utilizing the transportation management system plan orders from various locations utilizing the least cost carrier to meet customer needs. Work with the team to uphold carrier KPIs. Participate in carrier business reviews.

Fleet Management:

Coordinate with transportation managers for end of mile operations. Handle registrations and insurance for fleet vehicles and managed service sites. Work with shareholders on various projects.

Parcel Management:

Prepare and review weekly reporting to various departments. Assist with multiple shareholders researching costs. Troubleshoot issues with imports and other tracking issues.

Freight Payment:

Work in partnership with 3PL to audit and approve freight invoices. Utilize multiple tools to effect payment to 3PLs and other carriers. Generate financial reporting with finance team.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications)

Pursuing four-year college degree, preferably with a focus on Supply Chain or another related field

 

KNOWLEDGE, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of MS Excel and Access, Power BI, Tableau or other business intelligence system. Intermediate user in other MS Office Applications. Strong interpersonal, time management and organizational skills. Ability to leverage data to make business decisions. Goal-oriented, motivated, and committed to ongoing self-development.

 

Working Conditions, MENTAL aND  PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level. Work assignments are highly diversified.  New alternatives are regularly developed.  There is often no precedent established for problems encountered. Interprets, comprehends, and applies complex material, data and instruction – prepares, provide and convey diversified information, which may be of a technical nature. Work requires involvement in collaborative situations causing minor strain on an infrequent basis. Minimal physical effort required.  Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files and small parts, etc.).
