Job Description
 

As a Gilead intern you will contribute to high-impact meaningful projects that will not only further advance our company’s mission but will allow you to gain real world experience at one of the most innovative organizations in the world.  You will also have opportunities to participate in special events including professional development and leadership presentations, social/network building activities and local community volunteer programs.

Position Overview:

The position exposes interns to the various components of BRSEP’s functions by involvement in related tasks in drug safety reporting in clinical trials and post-market product use. Interns will contribute to projects, attend departmental team meetings, and work closely with professionals from a multitude of backgrounds, including PhDs, MDs, or PharmDs, in varied specialties, such as Oncology/Hematology, Virology, and Inflammation, or business document experts. The internship is an entry-level position, beginning with an initial period of training under direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Supporting the Therapeutic Area (TA) Teams in the authoring or contributing to sections of signal validation/assessment documentsSupporting quality control and, where required, authorship of assigned portions of aggregate reportsCollaborating with Gilead subject matter experts to contribute to the review and creation of risk language for non-Gilead investigational medicinal productsParticipating in both internal and external educational initiatives and activitiesSupporting the TA and BRSEP teams with ad hoc safety projectsEnsures own work complies with established practices, policies and processes, and any regulatory or other requirementShowcase your work with a final presentation (PPT) near the conclusion of your internship

Required Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years oldMust have a minimum GPA of 2.8Authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship now or in the future or CPT/OPT through your University.Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s/Masters/MBA/PhD program at an accredited US based university or collegeMust be a Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in undergrad or a Graduate or Doctoral StudentMust be enrolled full-time in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internshipMust be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between May and AugustMust be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Degree qualification: PharmD candidateProficiency with MS Office SuiteAbility to identify issues and seek solutionsAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyDemonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity in the workplaceEfficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Other Requirements

Have a basic understanding of the role of drug safety within the pharmaceutical industry.Demonstrated ability to be a fast learner.Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to change.Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of team dynamics.Proven ability to work successfully in a team-oriented, highly-matrixed environment.Demonstrates good analytical thinking skills, attention-to-detail, good communication and writing skills, project management skills and proficiencies with Microsoft Office suite.

The expected hourly range for this position is $19.00 - $55.00.

Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including education level and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.

Benefits include paid company holidays, sick time, and housing stipends for eligible employees.
