Are you looking for a rewarding internship experience in mental health and human services? Chestnut Health Systems is seeking three interns to join the Youth and Family Support Services team. If you're a college student or recent graduate with a passion for helping others, this role is perfect for you to gain hands-on experience in counseling, social work, or psychology while making a positive impact in the lives of youth and families.

 

One unpaid opportunity is available at each location: Belleville, IL, Granite City, IL, and St. Charles, MO.

Responsibilities Data and Documentation: Ensure timely and accurate completion of paperwork, including assessments, recovery plans, progress notes, and other necessary documentation.Service Delivery: Provide client-driven services that align with treatment plans.Recovery Support: Promote a trauma-informed recovery model by encouraging hope, empowerment, health, wellness, and spirituality. You’ll support clients in taking control of their own recovery.Referrals and Advocacy: Assist clients and families by connecting them to necessary resources within Chestnut and the community.Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, attend staff meetings, and participate in program development. You’ll also communicate with families, schools, probation officers, and other key people in the client's life.Hands-On Work: Deliver services in natural environments when possible, using evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and trauma-informed care.Confidentiality: Safeguard all organizational and consumer information. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, education, or related human services field OR, a bachelor's degree in any field with at least two years of supervised clinical experience in a mental health setting.Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and experience with electronic medical records.Valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, and insurability required.Must be able to successfully complete Chestnut’s background check.
