Under the direction of the Head Golf Professional or First Assistant Golf Professional, the Assistant Golf Professional Intern will perform all daily operations including, but not limited to: sales (rounds, merchandise, range, rental program); operating POS system; Tee Sheet management; Tournament Operations; golf course pace of play; and GPS.
Essential Duties:
Performs all point of sales applications as it applies to green fee sales, merchandise sales, and guest billing. Assists Head Golf Professional or First Assistant Golf Professional with enforcement of all policies and procedures. Monitors daily tee sheet, performs check-in, and receives payments from guests. Resolves discrepancies as it applies to duplicate charges and over or under payment. Tracks all force posts and no-show charges as applicable. Monitors and promotes golf and range activities. Assist as requested by the Head Golf Professional or First Assistant Golf Professional on all Kapalua Golf group outings and events including when necessary preparations for: scorecards, cart placards, rules sheets, score sheets, format sheets, tee gifts, pairing sheets, on course competitions, range preparations and hole assignments. Maintains a clean and orderly work area for both front and back of the house facilities. Assists retail team with keeping a clean and orderly golf shop. Responsible for maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction. Attends staff meetings as required. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Regular and reliable attendance. Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as requested. Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience: Currently enrolled in a PGA of America Golf Management University program.
Physical Demands: Regularly stands, walks, and sits. Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms. Frequently talks or hears; tastes or smells. Occasionally lifts up to 70 pounds.
Environment/Noise: Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather). Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses: PGA Apprentice and Valid Driver’s license
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
The ability to read and speak English is required to perform the job's duties (e.g., the associates are required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers, and the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Competent in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with computerized POS, GPS, Tournament Software, and tee time system. Maintains a credible golf game.
