Intern- Communications & Engagement

The Communications and Engagement Specialist will work closely with various corporate department leadership to create, edit, and proof, easy-to-read communications for our store team members and field leadership.  Partner with other departments to test new technology or applications before they are released to the field, as well as assist in developing a communication strategy for to the field regarding the updates/releases. Review and oversee the Store Operations content published for stores.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Work with the Communications and Engagement team, corporate departments, stores, and distribution centers (DCs), to develop written and audio/visual communications to keep all team member informed about company initiatives, new technology or applications, procedures, policies, and culture.

Develop content for the Company’s enterprise-wide communication platform, emails, intranet, and magazine that reaches all areas of the Company.

Responsible for meeting our company standards of grammar and style by proofing and editing communications, as well as collaborate with other departments to review their communication and or documents and provided expertise to the importance of these standards being met in all messaging.

Maintain the O’Reilly Rules of Style and ensure all communication is factually and grammatically correct.

Assists with reviewing and updating operations manual content on TeamNet in HTML format.

Provide phone support, records maintenance, and server organization.

Other department day-to-day demands including, but not limited to, communicating and interacting with both internal and external contacts through meetings, phone, and email, also maintain detailed records, photography, and server organization.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES

Required: 

High school diploma or equivalent

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills

Organization and ability to multi-task with minimal direction

Attention to detail and overall commitment to quality

Desired: 

O’Reilly Auto Parts store experience

Experience with HTML coding

Graphic design proficiency or similar experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)

Journalism, and/or communications degree

Photography experience
