Summer Internship Program

The Sonoco internship program is a selective program designed to identify Sonoco’s next generation of accounting leaders and introduce working in a Corporate setting for a global public company. You will spend your summer gaining experience within multiple functional areas (including, Business Controllership, Corporate Consolidation and Reporting, Financial Systems, Internal Controls, Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, Integration and SEC Reporting).  This project-based program is hands-on experiences and working with the business and accounting leaders to solve problems.  Throughout the program you can expect to gain a better understanding of your future potential at Sonoco through valuable project work.

Our internship program is designed to be a step toward joining the Emerging Leaders Program or other entry level positions upon graduation. Positions are primarily filled with rising seniors in their academic programs.

Our diverse portfolio of businesses provides opportunities across our multiple business units, integration into Sonoco’s culture, and the opportunity to make a true impact from day one. This position is located at our Global HQ in Hartsville, SC. All internships last approximately 12 weeks.  Your start/end date can vary based on your final exam schedule and relocation needs. Internships are paid, and relocation assistance is provided. We also provide a housing and activity allowance, and Sonoco sponsored activities with other interns and new Emerging Leaders Associates.

To become an intern with Sonoco, there are a few key things you’ll need to have/had:

Enrolled in a 4-year institution pursuing your Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting, Finance or Economics (must have at least 9 credit hours of accounting before the summer program begins)Previous internship experience preferredProven leadership experienceStrong communication, presentation and interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel i.e., pivot tables, v-lookups) and financial modeling knowledge
