Intern - Environmental Health & Safety

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Safety, Environmental Science or Public Health Expected graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation   Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of Kinesiology, Safety, Environmental Science, or Public Health is desired.   Strong verbal and written communication skills Comfortable with exposure to a manufacturing environment Project management

Compensation for this internship opportunity ranges between $20-$23 per hour.  (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).

This position will be located in Waco, Texas.  We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic student to join our team as a EHS Intern. You will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day functions of our business. The intern contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of operations by identifying areas for improvement, implementing solutions, and actively participating in various projects. The role provides valuable learning opportunities and exposure to different aspects of the business. 

Your education is just the beginning - you'll become an active member of our Environmental Health & Safety team, reporting to our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager.  During our 12-week internship program, you'll tackle real-world challenges through impactful assignments, and work alongside our industry changemakers.  

Intern Impact Project:  Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Improvements

The EHS Intern will be paired with area supervisor to identify areas for improvements in site health and safety. This assignment will require hands-on management to identify, plan, track, and complete projects.  The intern will document the process and prepare a presentation for management at the end of the 12-week program.

The EHS Intern will also be involved in the following:

Participate actively during incidents/events investigations Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements Collaborate with departments to improve safety and sustainability practices, recommending corrective actions.   Support environmental sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction and resource conservation Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS policies and procedures
