POSITION SUMMARY
An Intern Geologist will support the Exploration team through impactful project work focused on developing geothermal resources in Indonesia. Key responsibilities include geologic evaluations of prospective geothermal system and supporting development programs through as well targeting, testing, and analysis. An intern geologist will be required to perform field work for reconnaissance, geologic mapping, and geochemical sampling.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains a safe workplace and takes responsibility for safety with the goal of zero incidents. Performs a variety of tasks with a capability to work independently or within a team environment. Completes work assignments with suitable levels of supervision. Acts in a dependable manner and uses sound judgement in all activities. Prepares technical insights in a suitable communication method such as reports and presentations with accurate use of company tools, templates, and standards. Manages data and information in a manner that is consistent with company systems and processes. Perform field work including geologic mapping, geochemical sampling, and reconnaissance. Prospect evaluation incorporating geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data Research prospect characteristics, including rock types, alteration, geothermal surface manifestations. 3D geological modeling to build a geothermal conceptual model(s) Create maps using GIS tools and incorporate GIS datasets to support conceptual models. Generates new prospect recommendations. Assesses new sites for acquisition and communicates recommendations to manager and resource team. Data evaluation from the existing drilling information, including temperature, pressure, flow tests, lithology, drilling parameters, etc. Collects fluid samples for analysis, assists well logging operations (if any), and assists engineers with flow tests (if any). Effectively communicate results and recommendations to peers and management verbally and in writing. Verbal communication may be presentations, group meetings, or individually. Uses cutting-edge technology and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties and projects as assigned by management. Must have the ability to travel long distances by car and air.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, a Master’s Degree in Geothermal Engineering with specification in exploration is preferred. Minimum 1 year of experience as Geologist/Project Geologist in the Geothermal industry is preferred. Demonstration of independent work yet able to work as a team and excellent technical communication. Proficiency in technical specialist applications including, but not limited to GIS, ENVI, Global Mapper, Leapfrog, and Surfer is a plus. Must have field mapping experience, structural/alteration background experience. Geophysical or geochemical training is a plus. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities so time is used efficiently and effectively. Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure quality performance. Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Must take pride in being a great team member. Ability to seek out and solve hard problems. Works under general supervision of Resource Manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The ability to work in an office environment and to work at a computer, and computer monitor, and use repetitive motion for long periods of time. The ability to navigate and work in remote field locations and work outdoors in difficult weather conditions. The ability to walk, hike, and work on steep, rough terrain for extended periods of time. The ability to safely operate light vehicles on highways and off-road. The ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment. The ability to periodically lift 50 lbs. The ability to travel approximately 50% of time.
