Get to know the business
At AIG, technology is at the heart of everything we do, from underwriting risks to processing claims. The Information Technology team equips our colleagues with the latest tools to complete their work efficiently and with the highest standards of excellence. The team is responsible for shielding the company’s systems from security risks, while designing technology strategies that enable AIG’s businesses to achieve their goals. AIG’s Information Technology functions include enterprise architecture, software and systems engineering, cybersecurity, and technology risk and compliance.
Career paths within IT for the 6-8 month placement
IT Business Operations:
Business Operations Strategy: participants will serve as liaisons between the business and IT to gather requirements, recommend solutions, manage delivery, and implement broad technology solutions that meet business needs.
Roles: Project Coordinator, Business Analyst, Scrum Master
Business Intelligence: participants will analyze business needs and IT capabilities to identify and develop data-driven solutions to resolve business challenges while maintaining high quality data to enable efficient extraction of key insights that that drive vital business decisions.
Role: BI Technical Analyst
Customer Focus and Enterprise Protection: participants will monitor and manage issues and risks regarding critical technology assets and mitigate disruptions to user-experience.
Roles: Cyber Security Analyst, End User Support
Core Technology:
Participants will deliver, maintain, and improve technical services and applications critical to the business.
Roles: Infrastructure Engineer, Application Developer, Database Administrator, DevOps Engineer
Applicants should show a keen interest from the following:
+ Scripting languages; PowerShell, Python, VBScript/WSH or Unix Shell desirable
+ Software development; C#, Java, .Net
+ Database; SQL, Oracle, TSQL, PLSQL
Depending on the specific roles, building on above, you’ll gain exposure to number of different of areas:
+ Virtualised technologies and cloud computing
+ DSC tools such as Terraform, CF Engine, Puppet, and Chef
+ Software development tools such as Microsoft TFS, Git, and Jenkins
+ SAFe Agile Process Management
+ DevOps
About the role
Joining the AIG Placement Program is a great way to enhance your business acumen and gain insight into the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, global insurance company. You will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge during the program, working with industry leaders on dynamic projects, with ample opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement.
The program lasts 6-8 months and is targeted to students in the penultimate year of education. Placement students will join one of the areas of the above Technology division and have the opportunity to work in a diverse and global environment. In addition to the experience acquired on the job, you will have the opportunity to participate in webinars, discussion forums and networking receptions.
Upon finishing the placement, you may be considered for a full-time analyst role in AIG’s Technology Analyst Program (TAP) beginning in the summer of 2026.
What we’re looking for
AIG seeks candidates who have excelled in previous work experience, demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry.
We also look for a diverse background of experience, culture and thought. Successful candidates typically have a global perspective and a team-oriented track record.

Information Technology Placement positions are in-person opportunities and are available in Dublin. When we work in the office, we experience greater connections with opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and learn together.
