Eurofins MicroSafe Laboratories in Leiden is a GMP certified contract laboratory for the (bio)pharmaceutical industry. Eurofins MicroSafe has approximately 70 employees and is part of the internationally operating Eurofins Scientific. We have a professional team consisting of a mix of young and experienced people with different backgrounds and experiences.

Eurofins MicroSafe Laboratories offers unique tests that allow us to investigate the safety, effectiveness and quality of a biological medicine, including cell and gene therapies, vaccines and monoclonal antibodies. For example, we can demonstrate whether a medicine is free of microbial, viral or production process-related contamination. In addition to carrying out standard tests, we also set up product-specific tests in close collaboration with the client.

Job Description

Eurofins MicroSafe is looking to hire an enthusiastic intern to join our team in Leiden and help us develop new, innovative methods within the field of Molecular Biology for quality control testing of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs). Your assignment will be to develop and possibly validate one or more molecular and biochemical assays for the quality testing of pharmaceutical products in the field of cell and gene therapy.

You will work closely with the Senior Scientist for the assignment and collaborate with different functional groups across Eurofins, such as Laboratory supervisors, Operators, Study Managers, and Quality Assurance specialists.

As our intern you will have the opportunity to gain experience on biopharmaceutical product testing development, follow all newest developments and innovative testing methods in the field of cell and gene therapy. All research work will be executed in a GMP environment, and the new methods will be compliant with FDA/EMA guidelines.

QualificationsPursuing a Bachelor or Master in the Netherlands in Biology or related field;Available on a short term;Strong basis and interest in molecular biology techniques, such as conventional PCR, qPCR, ddPCR;Basic experience with cell culturing;Analytical thinking and creative;Good organisation skills, with attention to detail;Good command of the English language. Knowledge of Dutch is preferred;Located within reasonable distance of our site in Leiden.
