This is a full time Summer 2025 internship that will run May through August. Time off will be accommodated to complete the 3-week summer IPPE required by pharmacy school.
There is the opportunity to extend the training and maintain an as needed status through December.
Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Medicare Quality pharmacist, the pharmacy intern will engage Priority Health Medicare members to improve medication adherence to cholesterol, diabetic, and antihypertensive drugs for Star rated medications. In addition, the pharmacy intern may complete a comprehensive medication review (CMR) and document clinical information in the Medication Therapy Management (MTM) platform that is compliant with CMS requirements.
Essential FunctionsUtilize motivational interviewing skills to identify and address barriers to medication adherenceEducate members on disease state and medicationEducate members on Medicare Part D benefits and drug coverage to increase understanding and improve member experienceCoordinate with other health plan staff to improve health outcomes. This may include, but is not limited to, identifying and addressing Social Determinants of HealthEngage with providers and pharmaciesIdentify and recommend operational improvementsParticipate in internal meetings and collaborate with internal partners on organizational goalsPrepare and deliver presentation on pharmacy related topicsMaintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with members and providersPerform other duties assigned by the Manager of Medicare Quality or preceptorQualificationsRequired
