General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) is looking for an experienced Intern - Project Engineer I to join our Lincoln, NE organization. We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow.
GD-OTS provides reliable and affordable composite products to the defense and commercial aerospace markets. With more than 60 years of expertise, GD-OTS designs, develops, manufactures, and tests a full range of composite missile and space structures, including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes and fuel tanks.
Major Position ResponsibilitiesWorking as an Intern-Project Engineering you will be working directly with member(s) of the Project Engineering Team providing support for completion of the following tasks:
Provide innovative solutions to real world engineering problems, including; challenges with composite materials design, manufacture and tooling.Assisting a PE in their role as an interface to Program Office, to Senior leadership, and to Customer technical staff and Management.Support with problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.Assist in investigation of cutting edge technologies and aid in the development of plans to affect future opportunities through internal research and development and customer relationships.Providing support in preparation of technical proposals, and in preparation of monthly financial reports.Support in the defining of project needs, staffing requirements, and schedule and budget of project(s).Aid PE in updates to program tracking / reporting and development of plans.Work with PE in monitoring projects for progress and scope; aid in monitoring SOW tasks to avoid unplanned or unbudgeted work.Assist in preparation of status reports and presentations.Completion of other tasks as needed to support the Project Engineering team. Basic QualificationsCompleted a minimum of 2 years in an engineering discipline, working toward a BS in Engineering as a full-time student. This is a Year-Round Internship located on-site at our facility in Lincoln, NE.
