About the Team:

The Toxicology department focuses on Medical Drug Monitoring and Medication-assisted Treatment testing. The lab is a fast paced, production type environment.   Every day we make a difference in the way the medical community receives accurate results for our clients and patients. Internship Assignment Summary: 

Perform tasks within multiple departments/areas of the Toxicology laboratory to include: Receiving/Accessioning of specimens. Aliquoting of specimens for initial and confirmatory testing. Assisting Technologists with management of workflow and re-filling of reagents and QC (Screening, Extractions and Mass Spectrometry). Loading and unloading of initial testing batches onto the screening instrumentation (i.e. Beckman Coulter AU5800) in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and supervisor guidance (Screening). Maintain inventory of laboratory or instrument supplies and reagents.  Notify appropriate personnel or supervisor of any shortages. Follow proper chemical waste disposal procedures, and handling of chemicals according to the safety manual and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) protocols. Follow chain of custody procedures with accuracy and consistency. Verify chain of custody and specimens received.Perform and record instrument and equipment temperature, maintenance and function checks.Understand and comply with all laboratory and safety policies.This employee will be responsible for performing various non-technical tasks within the different departments/areas of the Toxicology laboratory.

 

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

Working towards bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biologyAbility to collaborate with various stakeholders and internal/external colleaguesMust be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to work effectively in fast paced high volume environment and while prioritizing and manage multiple tasksAble to work independently under general supervisionMust be able to regularly lift, carry, and rotate/turn with up to thirty pounds

 

Preferred Education, Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Chemistry lab experience/proficiency preferred

 

About the Position:

Scheduled Days: Tuesday – SaturdayScheduled Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm

Pay Range: $17-20

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
