We have an exciting opportunity for an Intern to support Airframe and Structures development projects at General Atomics-ASI. This engineering position supports the development of prototype aircraft structures as a Platform Engineer Intern in the Advanced Airframe Engineering (AAE) organization. In a Project Engineering Intern capacity, with guidance and mentorship, you will be a part of a team that organizes and coordinates all phases of Airframe/Structures sub-system projects from requirements definition to conceptualization through flight test.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Support a Sr. Engineer on project(s) of limited size for the Airframe/Structures Sub-SystemSupport a Sr. Engineer in the Facilitation and Coordination of interdependent job functions within the Structures Development IPT (Structural Design, Loads Development, Structural Analysis, Materials and Processes, Manufacturing, and Specialized Tooling activities) Supply Chain, and Manufacturing.Support a Sr. Engineer in the Development/Derivation of Requirements, Internal Statement of Work, and Basis of Estimates for Airframe/Structures Sub-System.Develop Project Tactical Execution Plans with buy in from SME’sCoordinate Design For Manufacturing and AssemblyCoordination of Engineering/Liaison Support for Product Build and Qualification TestingInteracts with internal and external engineering and project/program staff at various levels concerning resolution of technical/requirements issues. Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.May represent the Advanced Aircraft Engineering Department in communicating/resolving technical issues associated with specific projects.Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
