Intern-US Expansion Planning Engineer

As a US Expansion Planning Engineer Intern, you will be helping prepare for production in a new high volume memory manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho, calculating and communicating capital impacts of processes that will be introduced at the site to senior leaders in manufacturing and R&D.

Based in Boise, you will connect to many parts of the business to drive the execution of manufacturing and cost savings processes, including supply chain, finance, engineering, procurement, production, and R&D.

Innovation is highly valued at Micron, and you will have the opportunity to develop new tools to expedite, optimize and refine the planning and reporting processes used to prepare, ramp, and operate the site.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Optimize capacity of equipment base and lead site- and tool-level optimization studies for throughput enhancementCollaborate with partners to understand future tool and process roadmaps, and calculate network capacity impacts of process changesComplete financial analyses before new capital equipment is purchased, including metrics optimization, process flexibility, capacity sharing and equipment repurposeBuild and implement tools to audit manufacturing capital efficiency and identify cost reduction opportunitiesManage and communicate improvement opportunities and implementation plans to all relevant levels and functions in manufacturingUtilize new (e.g. Python, SQL, R) and traditional (Excel, VBA) methods to improve and automate tasks in the planning system/models

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a Business-related or quantitative field (Finance, Economics, or similar discipline)Must be a current student, must not graduate before September 2024.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in crafting and developing web-based reporting metrics (e.g. Tableau, Angular, JavaScript, Python)Experience turning complex and ambiguous problem statements into structured solutions while working in a highly multi-functional environmentExperience operating independently while maintaining a high degree of organization and controlExperience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, defining recommended actions, and reporting results across diverse technical and non-technical groupsExperience working in teams, establishing and maintaining multi-functional and working relationships
