Internal Auditor

Location: Either Marietta (Georgia, USA), Zwevegem (Belgium) or Hlohovec (Slovakia)

 

Purpose of the Job:

 

The Internal Audit & Risk Management Department at Bekaert provides assurance on internal controls and risk management capabilities across the Bekaert Group worldwide. Through our risk management and internal audit activities, we offer a global perspective and the opportunity to engage with diverse audit assignments across all areas of our business, people, and resources.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Support the Bekaert Group Internal Audit Management in developing audit scope, audit planning, risk and control matrices (RCMs), and test procedures using a risk-based approach. Execute the Internal Audit plan by examining and analyzing financial, operational, and organizational processes and related controls to assess and validate their effectiveness and compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate policies. Complete assigned audit programs and testing procedures, interview auditees, collect and review supporting documentation, and utilize data analytics and digital audit techniques. Properly document testing results in line with Group IA standards and ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness of all work papers. Follow-up on management remediation plans from audit projects, reviewing the status and results of their implementation. Recommend process improvements to safeguard assets, ensure reliable records and reporting, efficiently use company resources, and support strategic objectives. Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with management and auditees. Participate in initiatives such as forensic investigations and business or functional transformational projects.

 

Essential Skills & Competencies:

 

Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting, Economics, or Finance preferred). Minimum of 5 years’ relevant audit experience as an internal auditor in an industrial environment or external auditor in a Big 4 auditing firm. Fluency in English and Spanish (additional languages are a plus). Professional certification (CIA / CPA / ACCA) - Preferred Experience with Financial and IT applications: SAP, SAP BW, Blackline, Power BI, Data Analytics (Preferred) Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and excellent problem-solving skills. Discreet handling of confidential information. Good interpersonal communication skills in an international environment (written and oral). Effective communication with all levels of employees and management. Resilient, positive, and solution oriented. Comfortable working independently or as part of a team. Ability to work and succeed in a multi-cultural environment. Strong time management and organizational skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. Willingness to travel up to 25% worldwide.
