Internal Auditor
Description We are in the search for an Internal Auditor to join a dynamic team in the Financial Services/ Banking industry, based in Richmond, Virginia. This role is integral to our operations, focusing on performing financial and operational audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Responsibilities: • Assist the Internal Audit Department in completing audit projects • Identify audit objectives, design and conduct audit procedures, and document audit processes • Analyze processes and the impact of internal controls to identify areas of significant risk/exposure • Develop verbal and written communication techniques to gather information • Evaluate opportunities for operational efficiency and implement necessary changes • Document audit findings and create audit work papers that support procedures performed and conclusions drawn • Develop an understanding of Accounting Software Systems and International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing • Maintain productivity by carrying out all aspects of assigned audits in an efficient manner to satisfy audit objectives • Attend internal and external training classes and seminars to stay abreast of issues affecting the internal audit function and financial services industry • Maintain a good working relationship with employees at all levels and ensure confidentiality of all Credit Union transactions and information obtained through audit procedures. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems • Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services • Knowledge and experience in Audit Program • Understanding of Business Systems • Experience with CobiT • Ability to perform Accounting Functions • Ability to manage and report Audit Findings • Proficiency in Auditing • Experience in creating and implementing Audit Plans • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role within a credit union or financial institution • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously • High ethical standards and professionalism in handling confidential information.
