Providence Portland Medical Center’s Department of Medical Education is seeking an exceptional General Internist to lead the clinic as Medical Director in a mixed faculty/clinical leader role. This department is made up of a collaborative group of clinician educators who are passionate about training the next generation of physicians. Our program of 30 residents and 13 core clinician faculty emphasizes mentorship, role modeling, and rigorous clinical experiences that balance clinical exposure in a variety of settings (including outpatient medicine, inpatient medicine, and subspecialties) with an understanding of a patient-centered care model, evidence-based medicine, and a focus on quality improvement. Additionally, we host medical students from Oregon Health & Science University and Washington State University on core rotations each month. This position comes with protected time for teaching and scholarly activity. * Outpatient primary care, education & teaching, and clinic medical directorship are the core elements of this role. * 1.0 FTE will be allocated as follows: 0.4 FTE clinical (split evenly for direct care of your own patient panel and precepting residents); 0.3 FTE Clinic Medical Director (providing clinical leadership, driving quality outcomes & improvement, and partnership with the operations manager); the remaining 0.3 FTE for academic responsibilities (including teaching, evaluation, scholarly activity, monthly faculty development sessions, and curriculum development). * Work closely with GME leadership of the Internal Medicine Residency program to provide vision, leadership, collaboration, and supervision for the internal medicine residents and medical students. * Prior experience in academic medicine or faculty position strongly preferred. * Prior experience in a clinic leadership role required. **Where You’ll Work** Providence Portland Medical Center is recognized for excellence in patient care and research in cancer, heart, orthopedics, women's health and rehabilitation services.
