The University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine Residency Program Director. This position will be 50% Residency Program Director and 50% clinical practice in the selected applicant’s subspecialty. It is a great opportunity for the right candidate to provide leadership to an established and successful residency program. The ideal candidate will have experience in GME leadership and a track record of scholarly activity.
The program director will be expected to promote a strong educational program for residents along with promoting a clinical learning environment that is conducive to learning across our three training sites (the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Minneapolis VA Health Care System and Regions Hospital).
Primary responsibilities of the Internal Medicine Program Director include:
Be a role model of professionalism and excellence for residents and faculty.
Create and maintain a learning environment across our 3 sites that is conducive to the education of residents.
Ensure high quality clinical and didactic education of our residents
Provide leadership and development of program faculty
Evaluate, mentor and guide residents following established best practices; manage resident related issues, including disciplinary action in collaboration with GMEC
Ensure program compliance with established policies and procedures by the ACGME, ABMS, sponsoring Institutions and GMEC
Participate with ongoing program evaluation and improvement; closely monitoring key educational outcomes including board pass rates, match rates, and scholarship productivity. Establish goals and strategies to achieve excellent outcomes in all measures.
Maintain accurate and timely communication of requested or required information in collaboration with department and GME leadership and external bodies including ACGME.
Create and maintain program policies and procedures in alignment with ACGME and GMEC.
Required Qualifications:
Physician MD/DO
Eligible for MN Medical License
Board Certified in Internal Medicine and any applicable subspecialty for clinical practice
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to devote a minimum of 20 hours a week (0.5 FTE) to the administration of the program
Candidates are required to have 3 years of educational and administrative experience after residency training
