As an International Private Bank, Wealth Advisor within the J.P. Morgan Private Bank, you will be part of a dynamic, diverse team serving the German market. You will have the opportunity to provide personalized, comprehensive financial solutions to high net worth team members and families. Your role will involve assisting clients in planning for their wealth, developing family governance strategies, and providing information on tax and estate planning. You will also be instrumental in building and maintaining client relationships, developing new business ideas, and collaborating with professional advisors. This role requires domestic travel and the ability to deliver educational presentations to various audiences.

Job Responsibilities

Assist Germany based clients to develop their family wealth, business and family governance strategies. Provide information on effective structures to accommodate complex needs of large families with wealth spread across asset classes and currencies. Recommend tailor-made solutions to meet client requirements across generations and jurisdictions. Build and maintain client relationships with German private clients. This entails domestic travel. Develop ideas to help win new business from entrepreneurs planning for liquidity events.  Cultivate relationships with professional advisors (PAs) who focus on serving international private clients, principally attorneys and accountants, and coordinate the team’s strategy with respect to PA outreach. This includes to assist clients and finding the proper advisors when required.  Deliver in-market educational presentations to internal and external audiences (including prospects, clients, and PAs). Write and review articles for internal and external publication. Provide interviews for articles in trade and general publications, and other media. Serve as the go-to-person for clients and their advisors for tax questions related to their assets held with the Private Bank. 

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Proven track record in working with UHNW and HNWI German clients and helping them and their families plan for the future of their wealth. Recognized (also by the professional advisor community) thought leader / expert in the fields of wealth planning and protection and family governance and family office strategies. At least 5 years’ experience as an Estate & Tax planning advisor with a leading law firm, accounting practice or Financial Institution. An excellent understanding of the German international tax treaties and the German inheritance and gift tax and and income tax regime, particularly as it relates to the taxation of different asset classes.  A relevant professional qualification as a lawyer with a focus on tax and / or as a certified tax advisor (Steuerberater).  Proven ability to produce external articles or internal white papers on a variety of topics (Family Governance, Philanthropy, etc). Proven ability to think strategically and commercially in a global framework to setup your business area for success. A deep understanding of the private banking and the processes is important given that many WA-related client requests require a deep understanding of our processes, X-border rules, different legal concepts in other markets etc.  Accomplished client management skills with requisite gravitas to quickly earn client trust and win confidence, ability to work independently, high ethical standards and professionalism. Ability to partner with clients’ other advisors (principally their attorneys and accountants). English & German fluent.
