International Senior Buyer / Planner – Food / Industrial Meat Processing Equipment
Minimum requirements for the role:
A matric and degree or diploma or related qualification in procurement or related is essential for this role. Previous experience having worked in a Buyer role procuring international products is essential for the role. Previous experience having procurement raw materials and industrial meat equipment within the meat processing and food industry is preferred but not essential as the company is happy to train the person on their products being procured. Previous experience negotiating and onboarding new suppliers would be an added advantage. Computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills is essential. Must have a strong understanding of the procurement market and cost drives. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Planning and sourcing products internationally in order to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery time to ensure continuity of supply and demand to customers. Sourcing and ordering of food raw materials and equipment internationally to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. Ensuring continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicating any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations. Importing and sourcing alternate sources of supplies on a continuous basis. Handling all import costings, outstanding order schedule maintenance and updating and follow up on all shipments. Ensure that customs clear all imports under the correct tariff headings. Negotiating contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods. Assessing and evaluating suppliers and undertaking performance reviews. Assisting new product development department with sourcing new materials and projects. Managing stock levels and stock integrity and ensuring that all stock forecasts are accurate and in line with customer demands. Checking that credits are passed for foreign suppliers on rejected materials. Managing price negotiations with suppliers on product portfolios. Controlling the procurement budget and promoting long-term savings on procurement costs. Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
