The Manager of International Trade Compliance plays a vital role in providing governance, oversight, and execution direction to leadership and key partners involved in Regulatory Compliance for the Professional Tools (RIDGID & Greenlee brands) business. This position will be working directly under the mentorship of the Global Director of Trade Compliance, focusing on ensuring all import and export activities across our North American locations are in strict adherence to U.S. and non-U.S. laws, regulations, and Emerson Corporate policies. They will be encouraged to work effectively with other departments to help facilitate legal transactions for import/export as well as provide guidance in government regulations related to trade compliance. This position can be located in Elyria, OH or Rockford, IL!

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Promote One Emerson core values while supporting the Company’s objectives.  Enable the ethical execution of legal business opportunities, proactively mitigating risk and reducing cost.  Collaborate and coordinate with Business’ International Trade Compliance Managers/Leaders ITC Officers/Executive Sponsors and Liaisons to develop, implement, and maintain effective, efficient, and consistent global trade compliance programs. Coordinate the adoption, development, and implementation of One Emerson Regulatory Compliance standards throughout North America.  Provide business support in areas of training, auditing, and overall program development.  Support in third-party due diligence reviews and approvals (Checkpoint).  Serve as a compliance liaison in Archer to support the timely and effective closure of open compliance improvement plans.  Conduct routine communication sessions with senior management on the status of site compliance programs throughout North America and work in collaboration with global and regional Regulatory Compliance staff in progressing requirements.  Proactively look for improvement opportunities in support of other departments, including but not limited to Procurement, Logistics, IT, R&D, shipping, finance, and engineering.  Administer site visits, training days and integrate new acquisitions as applicable.  Develops and manages all decision making for International Documentation System Precision Trax, including all data maintenance, working with IT and 3rd party consultant for system updates, as well as regulatory changes that require documentation modifications, etc. Provide oversight in procedure development/maintenance and training of relevant materials to users for Precision Trax Int’l Documentation System Manage Shared Services import auditing with findings resolution for RIDGID products. Manage annual country of origin campaign, identifying products to be included in campaign providing oversight to One Regulatory Compliance Shared Services analyst with the annual process and monthly updates as new products are added and or updated within ERP system. Manage or otherwise lead the research and assignment of harmonized tariff schedule (HTS) numbers for both U.S. and Canada as well as export control classification (ECCN) for new and existing product updates and maintain a product database with classification justifications.  Ensure accurate product country of origin and country of origin labeling text for products. Manage periodic antidumping (ADD) and countervailing (CVD) duty analysis.  Generates monthly reports out of JDE and work with One Emerson Regulatory Compliance Shared Services for upload into GTM to conduct restricted party, deemed exports, & transactional reviews/screening for new account setup. Develop and maintain reports that are used for performance metrics as well as data management for import and export processes. As well as produce specifications for IT to create or modify reports. Work with internal and external service providers including Customs Brokers for importations. Assist with special projects, corporate assessments & improvement plan completion, and software automation integration related to programs that may impact Trade Compliance with little oversight.  Maintains applicable Trade Compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements. Keep up to date with regulatory changes to enhance trade compliance and apply these trade regulation changes to the business processes.  Provide Trade Compliance training/consultation on rules and regulations and transaction processes to global personnel.  Assists in development of Trade Compliance policies and procedures. You proactively develop relationships with a wide variety of people.   For This Role, You Will Need: A Bachelor’s Degree in International Business, Business. or a related degree or equivalent experience  10+ years of related experience in trade compliance. Excellent communication, prioritization, and organizational skills Excellent digital literacy, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access as well as systems such as JD Edwards, Precision QAD Trax,   Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction. Deep knowledge of US Government Regulations and websites (US Treasury Department, Department of Commerce and Department of State Regulations, multi-jurisdictional export and import controls, Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) and Harmonized Tariff System USA (HTSUS) classification procedures, Free Trade Agreements, military controls, technology management and export/re-export licensing). Ability to participate in, conduct and lead meetings to accomplish tasks.  Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship for this role will not be provided
