Internship: Electromagnetic Modeling of Asynchronous Machines (M/F)

Within the HyperWorks suite, Altair® FluxMotor® is a flexible open tool dedicated to the pre-design of rotating electrical machines. It enables users to build a machine and evaluate its performance. Based on modern technology, this standalone software allows for fast and accurate calculations. 
As part of the performance calculations for asynchronous machines, we need to advance our modeling and analysis methods.  

Objectives 
 
Within our R&D Application department—Agile team—you will evaluate and develop solutions to better manage the calculation of the squirrel cage characteristics of asynchronous machines. Our improvement goal is to develop a new generic model that considers all topological and physical parameters of the squirrel cage. 
Your tasks will include conducting a literature review to establish the state of the art in this field and proposing various solutions. The creation of a software prototype and validation on different structures of asynchronous machines will help select the most suitable solution. In collaboration with team members, you will describe the specifications needed to implement a new procedure in FluxMotor. This solution will be integrated into a new version of our software. If you are passionate about rotating electric machines and their performance modeling/simulation, you will be expected to contribute ideas for improving our knowledge and calculation procedures. 
By the end of this internship, you will have a good understanding of the electromagnetic phenomena within an asynchronous machine and the procedures for developing new features within software.

What You Will Need:

Education: Final-year internship from an engineering school or master’s degree Strong knowledge of electromagnetism Experience with finite element software (Altair Flux® preferred) Autonomy, dynamism, ability to innovate, and propose effective solutions Excellent communication skills (written and oral), good interpersonal skills, team spirit A good level of technical English is required (written and spoken).
