Relocation assistance will be provided for candidates who qualify. Participants will be connected with our relocation vendor and provided a lump sum payment to give you the flexibility to address your specific relocation needs.
Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The salary for this role ranges from $20.77 - $34.62 per hour (depending on your year in school).
What you’ll do:
The New Product Development (NPD) Engineering Intern is an integral part of Eaton’s Line Installation and Protective Equipment (LIPE) product line. As an NPD Engineering Intern, you will perform engineering analyses, create detailed designs, execute prototype builds, and develop verification tests – all contributing to the overall execution of NPD projects and functional initiatives. An intern works alongside experienced engineers to deliver the estimated financial benefits for a project, on schedule, and within budget.
As an NPD Engineering Intern, you are an integral part of the LIPE Innovation team which is responsible for the development of medium voltage switches, fuses, and power connection components for overhead and underground power distribution equipment and systems.

In this role you will:
• Collaborate with global design and manufacturing teams.
• Develop, improve, and sustain product design and product definition data (3D models, drawings, bills of materials, product & material specifications).
• Learn and perform engineering analysis and digital simulation leveraging advanced tools.
• Support the manufacture and production of prototype and pilot builds.
• Develop sub-system verification tests which includes defining mechanical, electrical, and environmental test methods and procedures.
• Coordinates the execution of the tests using both internal and external lab resources. Assist with performing testing. Design custom test fixtures.
Required Qualifications:
• Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited institution with a graduation date no earlier than December 2025.
• Minimum GPA of 2.8 or above.
• Able to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.
• Must be geographically flexible to relocate within the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior internship or co-op experience
• Minimum GPA of 3.2 or above.
• Experience in 3D modeling.
• Prior experience using CAD and FEA software.
• Hands-on experience building prototypes or other equipment.
