JOB SUMMARY:
The Horticulture Asset Management intern will support Arboriculture Data Specialists in cataloging, appraising, and presenting living assets. Through observation and field work, the intern will assist in presenting trend data to Horticulture Management to help limit monocultures and keep track of asset losses and gains.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Catalogs, appraises, and records a wide range of living assets on UO Property – most notably large, specimen trees.
+ Inputs, manipulates, and presents trend data to relevant stakeholders to ensure UO Tree Canopy aligns with government regulations.
+ Utilizes Geographic Information Systems to collect location data of assets.
+ Utilizes Maximo and other business systems to support management of assets.
+ Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
+ Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
+ A transcript is required upon application.
+ Preferred majors include: Database Management, Dendrology, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Arboriculture, Plant Health, or similar.
+ Preferred coursework completed: Plant Biology, Data Management, Database Management, Urban Forestry Management, or similar.
PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
+ Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
+ Knowledge of botanical nomenclature.
+ Comfortability with basic hand tool use.

+ This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
+ Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than December 2025.
+ Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
+ All of our internships are paid, and you may also qualify for housing financial assistance if applicable. The Recruiter will provide specific eligibility details.
