RHA INTERN (Rochester Housing Authority) DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is an internship position for our Eviction Prevention Project to help facilitate a study that will produce a coherent, comprehensive, and achievable proposal for reducing and preventing evictions and their life-changing negative impacts, particularly on children in Public Housing. This internship will provide the selected candidate the opportunity to work with RHA, the City of Rochester, other collaborating agencies and a number of RHA and community residents with minor children to identify policies and service, financial and training interventions and resources that may prevent evictions among low-income families and individuals attached to minor children in the Rochester area. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: + Create and distribute surveys to community partners and residents + Participate in the development and implementation of mechanisms for collecting qualitative feedback from community partners and residents + Assist in drafting a comprehensive and achievable package of policy changes, systemic supports and training strategies that can predictably reduce and prevent the number and impact of evictions, particularly those impacting minors. + Supporting engagement efforts with residents through community outreach + Special projects as assigned + Writes letters, memos, simple reports, and completes a variety of forms and ledgers using a personal computer. + Provides general office support as required ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Knowledge of office policies, procedures and terminology • Skill in organizing; planning, monitoring, and following-up as necessary. • Skill in performing mathematical calculations quickly and accurately. • Skill in the proficient use of office equipment, computers, and software • Ability to work independently in an organized, thorough, detailed, accurate, and efficient manner. • Ability to assess and evaluate problems and have capacity in determining priorities. • Ability to communicate (oral and written) and interact with diverse individuals (public, outside agencies/vendors, and co-workers) in a courteous, confidential, effective, positive, professional, and ethical manner. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: All Entry Level KSA’s MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate. Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or University
