About our intern program:
Our competitive intern program is a robust experience that offers interns exposure to the business world and a meaningful work experience. Interns are treated as valuable team members while learning from experienced professionals in a collaborative, fun, and dynamic environment. Baird’s summer program activities include an Intern Welcome Event, multiple Lunch & Learns, and many other informal events. Our interns have the opportunity to use a Baird Gives Back Day and be compensated to volunteer in the community. Team Overview:
The Financial Planning and Analysis (“FP&A”) team monitors the financial performance of Baird’s businesses, and using key metrics and operating results, provides financial analysis and advice to assist with operating and strategic decisions. In addition to current results, FP&A prepares forward looking information including the budget to illustrate future trends in the business. The team works with other Baird departments gathering information to evaluate trends and business opportunities.
Internship Location, Availability and Hours:
Located in our downtown Milwaukee office, interns must be flexible to work a minimum of 15-20 daytime hours per week during the Spring and Fall semesters and 37.5-40 daytime hours per week during breaks and summer. We are looking for a student that can start as soon as April/May 2025.
As an Accounting/Finance Intern, you will:
Assist with the monthly close including generating system reports, creating journal entries, and performing variance analysisSupport budget process and forecasting next year’s income statementConduct reporting and analysis for Baird’s Private Wealth Management business unit by maintaining historical financial and operational data and supporting ad-hoc client requestsPerform special projects and other duties, as assignedWhat we look for:
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business degreeAnticipated graduation date of May 2026 or later Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team playerAbility to work independently, manage priorities and meet specific deadlinesStrong attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability with a drive for continuous improvementDemonstrate critical thinking and troubleshooting skillsWhat makes this opportunity great:
