About our intern program:

Our competitive intern program offers interns exposure to the business world and a meaningful work experience. Our interns have the opportunity to use a Baird Gives Back Day, a paid day to volunteer in the community. Our mentor program gives interns an opportunity to network throughout Baird and learn about all the areas of the firm.

Our Compliance team ensures the laws, regulations, and ethical standards of the financial industry are adhered to in Baird businesses. We host interns within our Anti-Money Laundering, Registrations, Capital Markets, Personal Activities, and the Private Wealth Management-Surveillance Compliance teams.

Internship Location, Availability and Hours:

Located in our downtown Milwaukee office, interns must be flexible to work part-time during the school year, ranging between 15-20 hours per week and full-time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week.  We are looking for students that are available to start in April/May 2025.

As a Compliance Intern, responsibilities may include:

Assist with the administrative functions including answering phones and responding to basic client questions

Perform basic analysis on department, firm, and industry data and maintain compliance business continuity

Conduct preliminary investigation on potential watch list matches using tools such as Google, database, and court records

Gather information regarding client activity that may be suspicious and escalate to team for analysis

Assist with coordinating institutional branch review process

Assist with reviews of various business units

Create and maintain various Excel spreadsheets and presentation training materials using PowerPoint

Perform special projects and other duties, as assigned

 What we look for:

Attendance at a local Milwaukee university or college with a graduation date of May 2026 or later

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, criminal justice/law studies, finance or related area with a proven track record of academic excellence

Excellent attention to detail and superior organizational skills

Strong oral and written communication abilities

Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Some financial market knowledge is preferred
