Your role and responsibilities
To enable a low-carbon society, ABB is taking action across our value chain. With our technologies, we empower customers to avoid emissions and ramp up renewables. To cut our own greenhouse gas emissions, we follow targets that are aligned with the Net-Zero Standard of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We work with our suppliers and partners to drive decarbonization with the target to reduce our Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030 and 90% by 2050 (compared to 2022). One way of driving decarbonization is to place a monetary value on greenhouse gas emission and include this in the decision-making process, so called Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP). A company can also develop a Marginal Abatement Cost Curve (MACC) to prioritize abatement levers for achieving emission reduction targets. The focus of the internship is to evaluate how ABB can make use of ICP and / or MACC tools to achieve emission reduction targets with focus on the supply chain (Scope 3.1 and 3.4). Key responsibilities include:Mapping the pros and cons of the different methods available in an ABB context.- Benchmarking against other industry peers. - Adjust methods to an ABB context, e.g. recommend how carbon price should be set.- Run scenarios with different categories to understand where the lowest marginal abatement cost is or where the highest emission reduction benefit could be achieved at the lowest cost. - Prepare recommendations, including supporting material to demonstrate the potential gains. - Prepare tools and training material for the relevant business functions and ABB divisions.
