Internship- Pediatric Specialty Care Practice Operations Management

St Luke’s interns support the network by using their knowledge and talents to bring new ideas, creative solutions and technical skills to a variety of projects and task assignments.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Work with at least 10 different outpatient pediatric specialties and practices to experience the breadth of multi-specialty scope in pediatrics- this experience will include time with: General Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Pulmonology, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric GI, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Surgery, Developmental Pediatrics, and Lactation Medicine.
+ Attend Department, Specialty Practice, and Manager/ Coordinator meetings, and assist with the preparation/ summary of.
+ Observe and participate in practice-based job roles, including clinical and clerical roles, as appropriate, to understand the full scope of staffing in practice operations.
+ Observe practice operations at multiple sites to learn varying workflows.
+ Participate in learning all aspects of practice management, including but not limited to: Account Payable review, schedule management, financial statements/ performance reports, time management system and billing/revenue.
+ Support department’s goals by providing assistance, ideas and solutions
+ Work independently to complete tasks by assigned deadlines
+ Collaborate with a team to work on projects and group based problem solving
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sit up to 7 hours per day; 1 hour at a time. Stand for up to 10 hours per day; 8 hours at a time. Walk 6 hours per day; 10 minutes at a time. Consistently lift, carry and push objects up to 10 lbs. Occasionally lift, carry and push objects up to 75 lbs. Transport patients weighing up to 400 lbs. via wheelchair, bed and/or stretcher. Frequently stoop and bend. Frequently reach above should level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision.
EDUCATION:
Currently enrolled in Bachelor's Degree program in Healthcare Administration or related field.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
None required.
