Start date: 01.02.2025
Duration: 6 months
Location: Corsier-sur-Vevey
Role: Internship
Your role:
As part of the Technology and Innovation team for Global Drug Substance Development, you will join a team of motivated scientists dedicated to developing and implementing solutions to support the development and manufacturing of new biological therapeutics. Within this group, you will contribute to the improvement of the enabling technologies to support the upstream process development and clinical manufacturing.
Goal of the internship project is to design a quick protein quantification approach using robotics and Process Analytical Technology (PAT).
First part of the internship will be to finalize the evaluation of the ability of Raman spectroscopy and chemometrics to quantify protein concentration both at clinical manufacturing scale (2000L) and at process development scale (AMBR250 robotic platform).Second part (if relevant) will focus on designing a script on the AMBR250 liquid handler part to prepare a plate for quantification using an offline rapid analytical method (i.e. Octet). It may include protein quantification method development as well (tbc)Your work may include :
Designing and performing spiking experiments in the lab to generate Raman data for modeling protein quantification (incl. adaptation of existing script for in AMBR250 software)Performing Raman data analysis, including model calibration and validation using chemometrics (such as Partial Least Square multivariate data analysis)Evaluating Raman model scalability between robotic (AMBR 250) and small (3.5L) scales used in process development, potentially also with manufacturing scale.Evaluating AMBR250 liquid handler ability to prepare plates for offline protein content quantification, including scripting(possibly protein quantification method development)You will be trained to be autonomous in the lab and in data treatments, will participate in the experimental design and in every discussion concerning your project.
Your profile:
- Master/engineer student in Biotechnology or other related fields
- Highly motivated and autonomous
- Ability to conceptualize, solve complex challenges and to communicate about your project
- Great team spirit
- Previous experience in data modeling and/or scripting is a plus
- Good written and oral knowledge in English, French is a plus
