This position will be a **full-time contract** and **onsite** . **What You’ll Do** + Perform Spanish translation and interpretation services for IDOH. + Translate and interpret for multiple divisions/agencies, both internal and external. + Ensure translations are accurate and maintain the tone, context, and meaning of the original material. + Proofread translations and complete translation requests for various documents. + Use special dictionaries, glossaries, and websites for reference; research terminology as necessary. + Attend meetings, conferences, or events to provide interpretation services. + Advocate for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) clients when necessary. + Maintain strict confidentiality of translations and interpretations. + Communicate effectively with requestors and staff to ensure all needs are met. + Participate in opportunities to support translation and interpretation efforts. **What You'll Need:** Required: + Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 3+ years of experience translating + Completion of 40-hour Medical Interpreting Training such as Bridging the Gap + Native Spanish speaker level + Native Spanish grammar level; must be able to navigate almost any document in both languages, English and Spanish + Fluent in English and Spanish + Able to communicate professionally verbally and in writing + Industry-specific knowledge + Demonstrate interpreting/translating abilities + Culturally competent + Strong communication skills + High level of discretion and confidentiality + Must be able to work with limited supervision and handle multiple tasks and projects + Must be motivated to independently initiate and perform job duties + Must complete a proficiency test to determine language proficiency + Skills in using Microsoft Office **Preferred:** + ATA Certification + CMI (Certified Medical Interpreters) or CCHI (National Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters) certification **Physical Demands** + Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards + Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office + Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor \#dnp **Reasonable Accommodation Statement** If you require a reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, completing any pre-employment testing, or otherwise participating in the employment selection process, please direct your inquiries to application.accommodations@cai.io or (888) 824 – 8111. **Equal Employment Opportunity Policy Statement** It is the policy of CAI not to discriminate against any employee or applicant due to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, marital status, genetic information, disability or being a protected veteran.
