Overview This job is located in Rockford,IL AS NEEDED Very Limitied benefits POSITION SUMMARY: Performs bi-lingual (Spanish/English) verbal interpreting for patients and their families, care providers and all mission partners in a healthcare setting using accurate bi-lingual medical terminology and interpreter ethics. Assesses and monitors patient understanding of information conveyed. Records and monitors interpreter activities according to hospital and department standards. Acts as a patient experience liaison between Spanish-speaking patients and mission partners. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Education: High school diploma or GED. • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience interpreting for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Spanish-speaking patients in a healthcare setting including fluency in medical terminology. Completed a minimum of 40 hours of healthcare interpreter training. • Other skills/Knowledge: Proficient in basic computer skills in order to gather/document data related to daily requests and scheduling. • Licensure/certification: Completion of CCHI or CMI certification within 12 months of employment with OSF PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Education: Bachelor degree in interpreting/translation or related field • Experience: Public speaking, facilitating meetings/teams, educating others on interpreter services • Licensure/Certifications: Current certification from recognized organization such as CCHI or CMI OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
