The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Interventional Radiology. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. American Board of Radiology certified with CAQ and completion of fellowship training in Interventional Radiology or completion of a residency in Interventional Radiology is required. Teaching responsibilities may include daily clinical supervision and teaching of residents and fellows during procedures and conferences and participating in interdisciplinary conferences with clinical subspecialties. Teaching of medical students will be limited to those rotating through the Department of Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In addition, the candidate will prepare learning materials and lectures, teaching posters and presentations for national review. Clinical responsibilities may include performing minimally invasive image-guided interventional procedures as well as performing and/overseeing interventional studies and consultations with patients and referring physicians. The successful candidate will also participate in the Interventional Radiology off-hours on call program, including evening, night and weekend coverage. The IR division has an active outpatient clinic and consulting service, as well as an inpatient admitting service. The IR Division at Penn has a considerable depth of expertise, performing more than 10,000 procedures annually. More than half of them are therapeutic, covering every aspect of the field. Penn Interventional Radiology provides clinical services for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and the Philadelphia Veteran Affairs Medical Center. This position will be primarily based at the Philadelphia Veteran Affairs Medical Center. We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.
