Interventional Radiology Tech - Per Diem
 

The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. 

 

The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision.  This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results.  The Interventional Radiology Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet patient care standards.  This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.

 

This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.



QUALIFICATIONS   EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program required

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Licensed by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) required Certified in Radiography (R.T.(R) by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required Advanced ARRT certification preferred within 18 months of passing initial registry or date of hire BLS for Healthcare Providers required ACLS required within 3 months from date of hire or transfer   EXPERIENCE: 1-year diagnostic testing experience preferred Candidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire State License expires end of each year and must be renewed annually to work ARRT expires on incumbent's date of birth and must be renewed to work

Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) serviced:

Interventional Radiology

Stents/declot vascular, neuro, renal conditions and diseases including but not limited to PVD, renal, oncology, etc.

                                    



WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury, and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation.  Position requires the ability to stand a majority of the time; and require the ability to sit in front of a CRT monitor much of the time.  Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

 

This position reports to the Interventional Radiology Supervisor.
