Position Purpose
Interventional/Special Procedures Rad Tech
Under limited supervision, performs radiographic procedures at a level not requiring constant guidance or assistance. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment in applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. Assumes responsibility for particular areas of specialization as assigned.
CV Surgery Tech
Under medical direction of a cardiovascular surgeon and supervision of the Supervisor, provides care to patients during the intra-operative phase of surgical intervention. Is responsible for preparing the operating room for the surgical procedure including instruments, equipment, and supplies. Maintains the sterile field during the surgical procedure. Maintains expert status for all open-heart, thoracic, endovascular, major and minor vascular, and general procedures. Takes call for this specialty as well as serves as a preceptor. Focuses on complex activities such as special procedures, quality control and/or staff instruction requiring an advanced level of training and experience.
What you will Do
IR Tech
Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operative technique relative to Cath lab.Operates X-ray equipment for all procedures and operates CPACS archival system and all other hospital computer systems.Is knowledgeable of catheters, guide wires and other equipment related to special procedures and interventional procedures.Assures patient safety and care by reviewing orders, following sterile techniques, monitoring completion of pre-exam orders.Maintains licensure, clinical competence and proficiency as a Radiology Technologist.Discontinues arterial and venous sheaths effectively achieving hemostasis at puncture site with adequate pressure. Assess patient for signs of hypotension, bradycardia, hematoma formation and hemorrhage.Operates hemodynamic monitoring equipment during procedures. Assess hemodynamic data and alerts physician to changes and abnormalities. Calculates pressure gradients, valve areas, shunts and ejection fraction.Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomical positioning skills.CV Surgery Tech
Sets up instrumentation and needed supplies for open procedures using sterile technique and prepares equipment appropriate for procedure. Performs surgical scrub duties such as first handling or assisting physician throughout the procedure.Sets up and maintains instrumentation, needed supplies, and assists with preparation of needed endovascular equipment during the endovascular procedure.Assumes responsibility of maintaining the OR room in a patient ready state, including cleaning and stocking of supplies/equipment.Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology and operative technique relative to open-heart and vascular procedures.Applies principles of asepsis and infection control.Promotes and maintains a safe and calm environment for patients by ensuring appropriate supplies and equipment and readily available.Minimum Qualifications
IR Tech
Must be ARRT registered and licensed by the State of Iowa.Cardiovascular-ARRT Interventional Technology Advanced Certification required or candidate will acquire within an acceptable time period of acquiring the position.Minimum of three years prior radiology experience required.CV Surgery Tech
Completion of an OR technology course and current certification as a Surgical Technologist required.Must have a minimum of one to two years previous surgical experience, cardiovascular experience preferred.BCLS certification required.Position Highlights and Benefits
