As a Special Procedures Technologist, you will perform special procedures in Radiology to furnish the physicians with conclusive results in a timely manner.
**A caregiver in this position works variable days from 8am - 4:30pm**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
* Perform exams as directed by a radiologist to ensure appropriate views of anatomy are taken that will facilitate an accurate diagnosis.
* Assist radiologists directly, utilizing sterile techniques for all invasive procedures.
* Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures including pulse assessment and sterile field preparation.
* Participate in assessing the quality of equipment and daily operational supplies with the Radiology Manager and make recommendations accordingly.
* Maintain adequate level of supplies.
* Notify appropriate personnel to ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
* Remain abreast of current developments by attending related seminars and reviewing current literature.
* Assist in other areas of Radiology, if needed, if there is no other work in the special procedures section.
* Conduct patient education, screening and scheduling.
* Comply with all Radiology Information System and PACS entry requirements.
* Ensure the safety of patients, visitors, co-workers and self by using appropriate radiation and bloodborne pathogen precautions.
* Assist and support the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect.
* Provide supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures.
* Review images with students on request and provide quarterly evaluations of students to clinical instructions for formal reviews.
* Attend continuing education programs and complete mandatory training in order to maintain licensure, competencies and professional growth.
* Obtain certification by ARRT in cardiovascular technology within two years of appointment to this position.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* Successful completion of an approved School of Radiologic Technology program.
* Current license as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Ohio.
* Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* Three years of experience as a diagnostic technologist or one year of experience in special procedures.
